Do I have to pay Vehicle Registration Renewal fees if my car was repossessed?

My car was repossessed February 26th. They gave me the 15 days to pay the amount in full, or the back fees due plus all the other fees of the towing/storage etc. to reinstate my contract. Of course I wasn't able to do that so I had no choice but let it go. Today I just got the registration renewal notice in the mail. Do I still have to pay this even though I don't have the car anymore? As far as I know, the car has been sent to the place to be auctioned off, but I haven't gotten any notice of sale yet or any other correspondence from the bank in regards to it.
